And with that, they leave on the table a better life, better conditions, higher motivation and self-esteem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\u2753\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/td3\/1.5\/16\/2753.png\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\"> What makes it so hard to negotiate? What causes this considerable resistance to asking for what we desire?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some causes I have seen (including my own of some years ago) are self-doubt, lack of courage, fear of not being chosen in a selection process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\u27a1\ufe0f\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t25\/1.5\/16\/27a1.png\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\"> Here are some sentences I hear very often in the coaching sessions: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u201cThey are going to say no; it\u2019s useless to ask.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u201cThis never happened before in my company.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u201cIf I ask for this, I cannot ask for that and that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u201cReally, I can ask for that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u201cIf I ask, they are not going to choose me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u201cIf I ask, I will sound arrogant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\u27a1\ufe0f\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t25\/1.5\/16\/27a1.png\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\"> And here are some good reasons to prepare for a negotiation and ask for what you want: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 You will know what is possible for you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Even if it\u2019s a \u201cno\u201d at first, your intentions will be clear, and you will match with better partners <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 You will honour yourself <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 You will maybe be the first one to break some walls and rules and create a better future for many others<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 You will see how the counterpart responds and will be able to understand if it is with respect and kindness, regardless of the result<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 \u2026 and many more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The well-known secret to negotiation is preparation. Once you know your BATNA, goal, desired approach and questions, your chances of obtaining what you want will rise automatically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confidence comes from within, and this means that we can build it.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\ud83c\udfcb\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t43\/1.5\/16\/1f3cb.png\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trust the process, and enjoy every stage.
